You say GoPro Kits - what is in the kit - I thought it was ipads?

Great question. We hope to fund at least 12-16 GoPro kits a year.  Our project follows participants through video journaling for 365 days (1 year).  Then our project resets and we begin again.  We are hoping our kit will include:

  • 1 GoPro camera

  • 1 tripod

  • 1 mount

  • 1 extra battery

  • 1 extra SD Card

  • Case

The pilot videos showed us many valuable lessons learned, the main one being ipad quality is horrible and it is extremely important that when we capture these stories we are giving our participants the best means to do so. We believe GoPro is our answer as the video quality is high, it has wifi capability, and due to its rugged nature and extensive accessories collection, it can be used by anyone in almost any situation.

I tried to download an application from your website but can't find it.

We are currently working directly with organizations in identifying candidates for our project.  If you are interested, we encourage to work with any of your local childhood cancer organizations and they can reach out directly to us.

03

Are you affiliated Arms Wide Open Childhood Cancer Foundation?

We are one of many projects that AWOCCF has taken on. This one requires a lot of planning so we are getting the community involved early, since we need to do extensive fundraising and a indepth application process it was determined to break this project out on its own.  We also are sponsored by Arms Wide Open Childhood Cancer Foundation  (check out May 2014) as our overarching 501(c)(3). We are NOT affiliated with The Truth 365.

$7500 seems like a lot for GoPros. I have seen them onsale, etc.

We prefer to raise funds for GoPros because of the video quality, and we would like to provide a kit with each GoPro to allow for maxium recording quality. Our goal is to work with orgnaizations that already provide Ipads to families impacted by Pediatric Cancer and thus enure maxium larger community need.  Any sales or other great deals we are able to make, we will definitely pursue.  What money is not used in the first year will be rolled over to the next project year.

06

What happens to all the GoPro kits once filming is done?

We prefer to "gift" the GoPro kits for donation to families who are impacted by pediatric cancer.  We understand that families may not be able to complete their entire obligation to us as well.  Participants are certainly welcome to donate back their kit or any part of their kit for future project use.

What forms do I need to sign?

You will need to sign a release so we can use the video, photos, and audio you make for us to enable us to tell your story.  The release must be signed and recturned back to us prior to shipment of the GoPro kit.  The form can be found here
